Toe Jam, Korn, Gout and Rucas crash-landed into my life a couple of years ago and changed it forever. In 1971, another dude – who thankfully showered way more often – came into my life and did the same. His name was George Ground, my Big Brother. We lost George 15 years ago and a couple of weeks ago, his wife Dolly, (a total Toe Jam fan!)
also passed on. In so many ways I never understood at the time, they helped me connect with TJ and all the toenail fairies on Planet Fungeye. So in honor of George and Dolly, I'm reconnecting with Big Brothers and Big Sisters to see how TJ's story might inspire a few more kids to bag their own dreams.
Just sent a few books to my new friend Dan Stuchal who works for Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Dallas. (Sorry if there's a sudden, unexplainable outbreak of toenail injuries in Coppell, TX.) And tomorrow, I'm hooking up with a few folks from the Twin Cities' BBBS organization to see how TJ can rock 'n' reek at some local events.
Thanks George, Dolly and all of their family who adopted me as a Little. It was your original source of light, laughter & love that the toenail fairies sniffed out to find me.

They reek, but man, do they rock!
